Antistatic Glass Coating for Chemical and Pharmaceutical Applications
In glass-lined equipment, electrostatic charge accumulation can pose a critical risk in chemical and pharmaceutical processes, particularly when working with low-conductivity media.
Pfaudler Pharma Conduct (PPC) Glass is a conductive glass-coating developed to dissipate electrostatic charges that build up on glass surfaces.
At the same time, it provides the chemical resistance, durability, and technical performance expected from glass-lined equipment.
Electrostatic Charge Accumulation in Glass-Lined Equipment
Electrostatic charge can develop during pharmaceutical and chemical processes, particularly when using low-conductivity or non-polar media.
Typical applications include:
- Crystallization processes carried out under agitation
- Operations involving low-conductivity or non-polar solvents
- Charging and feeding dry powders into reactor
In these situations, electrostatic charge can accumulate in the product as well as on the surfaces of glass-lined components, posing a risk of damage to the glass-coating and potential loss of integrity of the glassing.

A New Approach to Electrostatic Safety
The Pfaudler Pharma Conduct (PPC) Glass* coating was developed to address electrostatic risks in the chemical-process industry, helping to maintain the integrity of the glass-coating and prevent potential damage when handling non-conductive media.
By combining increased electrical conductivity with a very high dielectric parameters, PPC enables the controlled dissipation of electrostatic charges while maintaining the essential properties of conventional glass-coatings.
The result is a higher level of process safety without compromising reliability.
